Livermore Nitro Vs Stockton Pride

The Livermore Nitro U15 Al Caffodio team opened their season at the Stockton Shootout against a motivated home team with three of their players absent. The Stockton Pride recently won the Huntington Beach Tournament so the scene was set for a tough game. The first half was evenly balanced but the edge must go to the Nitro mainly because they put the ball in the net after 20 minutes - but the goal was disallowed. The second half came alive after 10 minutes when goalkeeper Ruben Vazquez made a great save, lost the ball and had to hussle back to prevent a goal. Stockton began to put on the pressure and were rewarded moments later with their first goal. The Nitro were sparked and responded immediately with determination and some excellent play. Scott Lassey came down the left wing, crossed the ball and Andrew Dubatowka put the ball in the net to tie the game up 1-1. The Nitro continued to dominate and within minutes went up 2-1 when Jose Alcantar made a run down the left wing, shot from a narrow angle and scored - a great solo effort. Stockton tried to recover but were outplayed and went a third goal down when Seamus Lennon collected a through ball from Marcus Richerson and headed directly for the Stockton goal. His shot was accurate and penetrating and took the Nitro 3-1 into the lead. It seemed like the deal was done but a goal by Stockton a few minutes before the end of the game made the Nitro fans nervous. The Nitro defence held tight against a strong final rally by Stockton and at the final whistle the Nitro were the victors 3-2.

Goals By: Andrew Dubatowka, Jose Alcantar, Seamus Lennon

Result: Livermore Nitro 3, Stockton Pride 2

Livermore Nitro Vs Mountain Valley Los Altos

Only three teams were in the U15 tournament because the fourth team was disqualified after an altercation in their previous tournament. So the tired Nitro's second game was against a fresh, athletic, motivated MVLA team. The Nitro team played well but were unable to score and went down 7-0.
Result: Livermore Nitro 0 MVLA 7

The Nitro deserved to win this tournament but amazingly Stockton beat MVLA on Sunday morning and so went on to play again in the final. Jose Alcantar was the foundation of the Nitro team and goalkeeper Ruben Vazquez saved many good shots. The Nitro can score goals and their future this season is bright and interestingly their first game next weekend is against MVLA in a San Jose tournament.. The Nitro will have their three missing players back on the roster so the return game will be fun to watch. - Lancashire Link List - over 1000 links
